Zambia's Well Deserved Victory

The Zambian team honored the 1993 Zabian football squad who were wiped out in a plane crash on the coast of Gabon, when they won the Cup of African Nations for the first time in Gabon! They beat the favorites Ivory Coast in a penalty shoot-out as well as Senegal and Ghana in the course of the competition.

Zambia beat the 'big dogs' of the competition with grace and taught the world that determination, team spirit and perseverance can beat mere skill. Let us all learn from them...

He died 11th May 1981 from cancer at the age of 36.

I would pick old school RnB music any day of the week to what we have now. Why? For the simple reason that RnB songs of the 60's, 70's, 80's had beautiful instrumentals that does something to the mind that I cannot describe. And they talked about love. An intimate love. As much as I love Trey Songz music, his music and the likes of others are based on sex and not an intimate love, it degrades love. I think love is a beautiful thing and I wouldn't want to miss out on it or be deprived of listening to the kind of music that talks about it and makes your heart melt. I'm pisces, I'm a dreamer. I believe in that kind of everlasting love so for me, I'm going with old school RnB, they up my brain.....now we've got Lady gaga....something went wrong!

I heard of all the undercover cases that Ghana's celebrated undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw did and thought he was doing a great job. Today, I wanted to do a blog about this wonderful person after an article about him caught my attention. I decided to go on youtube to see if any of the stories he worked on was available to be able to add it to the blog about him. However, after I came across the story he did on Osu Children's home orphanage (which I had heard about from months ago but never got to see), I'm not sure I have the heart or strength to blog about anything else.
Words cannot begin to express how saddened and heartbroken I am. The part that really gets to me is how they carried the kids dead bodies like they were filth animals.
God is alive and can see all that we do. To maltreat helpless, hopeless children is beyond evil! And they will reap what they sowed. My heart goes out to all the children who suffered under their care, parted this world with no known happiness and for those who continue to suffer under their care :' (

And I am completely against caning. I find it barbaric. Children can be disciplined and corrected without being brutally caned! Those who quote the bibles "Spare the rod and spoil the child", I doubt if Jesus meant using a rod. He meant the 'act' of discipline which the bible tells us to discipline our kids with patience, love and care. That doesn't sound like constantly hitting and caning a child to me. Especially the manner in which teachers cane. What sense does it make to cane these kids because they haven't paid their fees. Are they the ones who work and earn money? What logic is there in hitting them because they are unfortunate and poor. All it does is create fear in these kids everyday before they go to school...how then will they have the peace of mind to study. Ghanaians in the education sector need to study psychology because they obviously lack the knowledge of effective child upbringing.

Growing up with the "King of Calypso"- Harry Belafonte

Today, i was filled with nostalgia as i listened to "Matilda" by Harry belafonte. I grew up with the wonderful privilege of listening to his music since my parents were fans (although his music was before my moms time). My mom, due to her many Caribbean mates in Uni and my dad, because he was a guru at south american/caribbean dances (cha cha, rumba, calypso, paso doble) and loved the music!

Harry Belafonte was born in 1927 in New York (of Jamaican descent). He joined the navy and served in world war II before turning to music. He popularized Caribbean music in the 1950's. He also starred in several movies. Throughout his life, he has been a strong advocate for civil rights and humanitarian causes.

SOLANGE; A SWAN?

I keep wondering why people make Solange out to be ugly. I actually think she looks very much like Beyonce and should at least be dubbed "Pretty" if Beyonce wears the title "Beautiful". If she got a good stylist and stopped failing with her fashion, people would be able to see her beauty more. I also feel like she's been shadowed by her sister all her life and that she just tries to be relevant thus her fashion mistakes. It must be extremely hard to have to watch all the attention from everyone go to your big sister when you are supposed to be the receiver as the "baby of the family". Dare i say that just maybe Solange may not be so far below Beyonces' beauty?

He is 60!!!! This is where my problems begin! Is he 60 in dog years??? If not, i need to personally speak to the mid-wife that delivered him and cross check his birth certificate for its validity. Like someone said "The saying goes "Black don't crack" not "Black completely defies the laws of time and gravity". How the hell are you gonna tell me that this FOOIINNE gentleman right here was born in the 50's!!!! #fainted.

The 60 year old X Factor has some GR-E-A-T genes!!! This man is the best looking 60 year old i have ever seen!!! Apparently, he's opened shows for Sheryl Crow, Joan Osborne but never got past the level of being an opening act. He wrote 2 hit songs for Elton John in 1979 "Livin it up" and "Mama can't buy you love" which earned Elton a grammy! In 2003, he composed "Are you ready for love".

I chanced upon the story of Troy Davis and i was deeply saddened.

Why shouldn't he be executed?

7 of the 9 witnesses at Davis's 1991 trial recanted
Some of the witnesses have admitted to having falsely testified, persuaded and threatened by the police to testify against Davis and others to being illiterate (couldn't read the police statements they signed)
1 of the last 2 witnesses who haven't changed their story and refused to talk, and the other Sylvester Cole who implicated Troy Davis as the killer has had groing evidence over the past 20 ways that he may acttually be the killer
9 people have come forward with evidence that implicates Sylvester Cole
Sylvester Cole admits to having the same type of gun used in the killing but claims he gave the gun to another man the day of the shooting
There is no forensic evidence and no DNA evidence at all
No gun connected to the murder was found
3/4 of innocent prisoners convicted is due to faulty eye witness testimony
Before an execution takes place, there should be beyond any reasonable doubt of their guilt
Executing Troy Davis would be exceptionally cruel and horrendous because it would be the 4th scheduled execution date and death row experts say "multiple experiences with imminent death is tantamount to torture".

Went for a hip-hop and RnB night. We had so much fun! Great music!

We went into town briefly to buy a couple of things. If there's one thing i love about switzerland, it's all the drinking water fountains around! Such a money saver!!!

Yet another blog entry on make-up. Most of us have make-up bags overflowing with all kinds of make-up. But which are the most essential? Which are the ones you need to have with you when you are going away for the weekend?

I have given a breakdown of the most essential must haves. I've also given suggestions on the brands according to what i use (tested and tried),

Concealer: I suggest--- "Select Moisturecover" from mac. It works well and costs a reasonable amount. $16.50
Select Moisturecover is a luxuriously blendable moisturizing concealer. It can be used for under the eye and to cover up spots etc. It blends in for a natural-smooth-moisturized finish.

Foundation & Powder combination; I suggest--- "Studio fix". It costs $26.50
Why a combination? Because it looks more natural and is lighter to wear for everyday.
It is a one-step application of foundation and powder, gives skin a smooth, flawless and full-coverage finish. It is a real one-in-all!!!

Eye Liner: I suggest--- any affordable waterproof eyeliner.
These do not smudge too easily. I use one from Layla.

Mascara: I suggest--- "Magnascopic" from Estee Lauder. It costs $27.00
It gives a maximum and intense volume to eyelashes and elongates them more than anything you've ever seen : )

Blush: I suggest--- any affordable one.
The main thing is to use it lightly and in moderation so that you don't end up looking like a clown!

Lip colour; I suggest--- "Dazzleglass" from mac, It costs $18.50, OR "Cremesheen glass" from mac. It costs $18.50. 0R "Glam shine crystals" from l'oreal. It costs $21.00. OR "Levres scintillantes" from Chanel. It costs $28.50.

Dazzleglass: is a lip color that dazzles with a shine to bring an exciting pop to your lips. Large particle pearls reflect to provide exceptional shine. It is non-sticky, non-tacky and moisturising. It can be worn alone or over lipstick for a dramatic effect!

Cremesheen glass: is a creamy, soft, comfortable and non-sticky lip colour. It can be used as a top layer or on its own!
